Therapy for Anxiety
Anxiety is experienced not only in the mind, but throughout the nervous system.
My approach to anxiety therapy works by both exploring the deeper roots of anxiety while helping the body develop a greater capacity for grounding, safety, and connection.
Anxiety invites us to listen.
The nervous system is constantly taking in information about our internal and external worlds, shaping how we experience safety, threat, connection, and uncertainty. Anxiety is part of this embodied experience.
Rather than relating to the body as something to control or override, therapy helps us develop a greater awareness of its language and learn to work with it.
This work also invites us beneath the symptoms themselves. We explore the experiences, relationships, fears, and unconscious patterns that have shaped what your nervous system has learned to anticipate. As we develop greater access to grounding and connection, there is more room to experience activation without being governed by it.
Together we’ll explore
Nervous system activation, overwhelm, and difficulty settling
The deeper fears, experiences, and unconscious patterns beneath anxiety
Grounding, safety, connection, and nervous system regulation
Overthinking, rumination, perfectionism, and the need for certainty
The relationship between anxiety, attachment, and early experience
Building greater trust in the body and your own internal experience

My Integrative Approach to Anxiety Therapy
-
Anxiety is an embodied experience, which makes the body an important part of our work. Somatic therapy brings attention to sensation, breath, movement, grounding, and nervous system states, helping us become more familiar with the body's signals and develop greater access to safety and connection. My approach here is also informed by my background as a certified yoga teacher and continued study of autonomic physiology.

We explore the unconscious beliefs, defenses, early experiences, and relational patterns that give anxiety its particular shape. A trauma-informed lens allows us to approach anxious responses with curiosity rather than judgment, understanding the ways the psyche and nervous system learned to anticipate, adapt, and protect.

Mindfulness helps us develop a more intimate relationship with our internal experience. Rather than immediately reacting to a thought, sensation, or feeling, we practice noticing what is happening and staying present with greater awareness. This creates more room between the experience of anxiety and the ways we respond to it.

Build a different relationship with your nervous system.
The goal is not a permanently calm nervous system. A healthy nervous system moves through activation, rest, connection, and response as life asks it to.
Our work develops greater capacity to move through these states without losing connection to ourselves, allowing anxiety to become something we can listen to and work with rather than something that continually organizes our lives.
As the body develops greater familiarity with grounding and safety, we gain more freedom to tolerate uncertainty, trust our internal experience, and remain present for the lives and relationships we want to inhabit.
